Hi Everyone,
It took a long time for our speaker today to find his passion. He failed at so many other things. He was told he was dumb. Told he wouldn't amount to anything. Told he was a disappointment. Then, one day, he found it. What he was most passionate about: the yo-yo!
Today, check out Japanese yo-yo world champion BLACK as he tells his inspiring story of finding his life's passion, and gives an awesome performance that will make you want to pull your yo-yo out of the closet.
Let his talk inprise you to find or jump into your own dreams!
You deserve a chance to be excellent.
You owe it to yourself to become a master.
Take care,
Mrs. Roberti

TED Talk #14
Hi Everyone,
I have mentioned it before, but I love learning about all of the interesting jobs there are out in the world. I especially love when a job combines two things that seem so different and mesh them into something really really interesting!
This Ted Talk combines magic and technology.
Using sleight-of-hand techniques and charming storytelling, illusionist Marco Tempest brings a jaunty stick figure to life onstage at TEDGlobal.
I think you will find this video amusing to say the least. Here is the link.
Enjoy,
Mrs. Roberti

Essential Skills Resources #16
Hi Everyone,
The words “Measures of central tendencies” sound very intimidating, but don’t worry! They just mean: mode, mean, median, and range. Normally kids feel a bit more relaxed once they see that. Here are the definitions for those words:
I bet studying this chart will help you earn your 100 on Friday! If you need something more, here are a few other resources.
Please see me if you have any questions :-)

TED Talk #13
Hi Everyone,
Get your tissues ready for this one! Some talks are funny. Some talks are educational. Some talks are jaw-dropping. Well, this talk is a combination of all those things and so much more.
When she was 19, Amy Purdy lost both her legs below the knee. And now ... she's a pro snowboarder (and a killer competitor on "Dancing with the Stars"!). In this powerful talk, she shows us how to draw inspiration from life's obstacles.
Here is the link to Amy's talk about living life without limits.
Oh, in case you missed it, here is a video of one of Amy's best dances on Dancing with the Stars.
I hope you enjoy it.
Take care,
Mrs. Roberti

Do you want to build a snowman?
Hi Everyone,
It's a beautiful day to make a graph!
My son is a big fan of the movie Frozen and yes, he does still ask me about making a snowman. It seems even with all of the snow this past winter, we never really got the "right" kind of snow man making snow.
So, I will see if this helps cure his snow man making blues:
Grab a graphing calculator (or desmos app) and give this a try:
Graph the following equations:
